District Overseer

Brief info

Pastor Dele Abegunde was born in 1955 to late Paul Olabode and late Felicia Tejumola Abegunde. They were both in the medical profession, but lived very short lives. He read English at the University of Ibadan and Law from the University of Lagos. He served his NYSC with the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (now Bank of Industry) in 1979 and started work with them in 1980 after his service and continued till June 29, 2007 when he retired from the Bank of Industry (it’s new name) as the Legal Adviser.

He met the LORD briefly in the university through Rev Jide Olowodola, but left the LORD on January 12, 1979, the day he learnt that his father died and had become an orphan. He returned to the LORD on 5th February, 1983 after much prayer by his younger Mrs Yinka Ugbaja. This took place at the Foursquare Gospel Church, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

He has served in several capacities in the church ranging from being a Sunday School Teacher, to leading the Prayer Warriors for nine years, to membership of the Church Council, to the Chairmanship of the Marriage Committee, Home and Life Coordinator, Building Committee Chairman, among others.

He was one of the first ordained deacons of the Movement when the position was introduced in 1989 in the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.

He was sent by Rev. John Dansu to take over the leadership of the team that planted Foursquare Gospel Church, Shangisha, which now is this church in Magodo. We moved from the Olaonegan Guest House where it was planted in Shangisha in Elder Faromoju’s house in Magodo and finally to our present location.

The Magodo Church then began to plant daughter churches all over Nigeria, in Ekiti, Bauchi, Ekpoma, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states, among others. The church also supports missionaries in Nigeria and around the world.

He was made a Zonal Superintendent in 2009 by Rev. Richard Oloidi, over some of the daughters of the Magodo Church. He was made a District Overseer of the newly inaugurated Magodo/Ibafo District in April 2012 by the General Overseer, Rev. Felix Meduoye. The district grew and Ibafo District was carved out of in December 2015.

He is married to his best friend, Oyinfolake Abidemi Abegunde and they are blessed with two girls and a boy. The girls are married while the boy, also a lawyer is building his professional career
